That's all I'll say about us trying to down Akil'zon in previous raids!
But tonight, we swept the aside the eagles, got to Akil'zon and he got what was coming to him, cold hard justice Underachievers style!
Slowly the encounters are getting harder, and slowly we are (after practice!) downing them, like Gruul, he's caused us problems and it feels great to know we got him finally, if only I had recorded the vent that night!
But like Gruul, this was no easy fight, with only 4-5 people left when he went down, has to be one of the closest fights I've seen in a while.. last time i felt my heart beat that fast was when we had Netherspite down to 1% with Allathe smiting away!
Great work guys, from what I've heard, this guy is the hardest of the avatars, so the others will meet their fate soon enough!!

I just want to say big gz to everyone that downed him last night it was a big achievement and sorry for being so negative by thinking that we would not be able to down him it wasnt the the skill of the players i was doubting it was how well geared we were and the fact that some other *raiding guilds* had not been able to do it. so really good job and great skills to all that were there

Oh yeah! Exploit to get past the guantlet: when you start up the ramp towards Akil’zon’s area, have a hunter go behind your party and wait for the mobs that come up behind the party. Have the Hunter distance himself from the main party & attack the mobs that come up behind you. The Hunter can then Feign Death after engaging the mobs behind the raid group, and the mobs will reset! They will not continue to come up behind the raid party while you ascend up the hills towards Akil’zon! How nice indeed.
Works without a hunter too. Make a rogue hit the rear approaching mobs with blind, then Vanish. The mobs will reset and allow you unfettered access up the ramp to Akil’zon.
