Patch 2.3 "The Gods of Zul'Aman"
Introduction to Zul'Aman and tactics for the first boss.
Patch 2.3 has been announced to go live on Wednesday 14th November.
This will be important to us for a few reasons, faster leveling 20-60, but mire importantly..
Zul'Aman is a raid dungeon located in the Ghostlands intended to be a 10 man instance
that players can go to after Karazhan. It requires no attunement and is intended to be more
accessible to players on tight schedules.

Quick bullet point summary:
- Location: Southeastern Ghostlands
- Bosses: 4 (6 including pre-end boss and final)
- Flight Path: Hatchet Hills (New one just outside of the instance)
- Instance Reset: Three days.
- Number of Players: 10.
- Attunement: None.
- Timed Event: Raid has a chance for extra loot on every boss
- Resistance Gear Requirements: So far.. I can only see Fire, but Nature & Shadow must be in it somewhere.
Since I'm confident we can do the first boss at least.. let's go over the tactics and stats
Bear Lord Nalorakk:
- Health: Around 1,700,000
- Tauntable
- Brutal Swipe: Do damage divided up evenly among all affected targets. Seems to cap at 2 players. So have the tanks stack for this.
- No Crushing Blows
Troll Form
- Mangle: All bleed effects cause 100% additional damage.
- Surge: Charge like ability (hits plate ~1500, hits cloth ~3-4k)
Bear Form
- Lacerating Slash: Bleeding for 1735 damage every 2 sec. (18 sec duration)
- Rend Flesh: Bleeding for 2335 damage every 1 sec. (5 sec duration)
- Deafening Roar: Deals 1235 to 1365 physical damage and silences enemies for 2 sec.
Strategy:
- Basically, we have TWO tanks, one for each form, as the troll applies mangle, then bear uses bleed effects.
- Visable from the entrance, once we get near he'll send waves of trolls to us
- Once we get to him, he'll send mounted bear troops as well (bear mount anyone? Druids will want first pick I'm sure!)
- I'm unsure how we'll deal with these.. but They are vulnerable to all snares as well as polymorph.
TANKS:
- Nalorakk starts in Troll Form and alternates between it and Bear Form. Have one tank chosen for each form.
- Druid bear tanks have an advantage as the troll tank, in troll form his regular attacks are weak, but spikes high sometimes.
- Be very certain you have the off tank stand in front of Nalorakk to take cleave damage, as it is spread among every target it hits.
- Tanks (mainly bear tank) be ready with a health pot/healthstone/shieldwall as if he (in bear form) casts deafening roar, silencing the raid, and you're bleeding.. don't expect help for 2 secs at least!
- TAUNTABLE! We'll have one tank for troll, one for bear. Bear tank stay 2nd on aggro list in troll, and vice versa.
- The tank switchover is really really important.. When he switches to bear form, the bear tank must pick him up ASAP. If the troll tank has mangle on him and the bear uses rend flesh and lacerating slash, and mangle increases those effects by 100%.. It'll burn the healers mana, and it's a very long fight....
- so (bear tank especially) BE QUICK in taunting! "I Heard your mother was a panda!!!"
- Tank for bear form, DON'T GET MANGLED cos you'll take bleed effects!
DPS:
- SPREAD OUT!! If he charges one of us, he'll cleave, and if all us clothies are together.. man.. bloodbath =p
- The AOE silence is NOT avoidable, and it seems that it has no cast time, and no cooldown that I'm aware of
- DO NOT go above the tanks on aggro, it makes life harder for them, we need the switch to work. (-50 dkp!)
HEALERS:
- Long long fight, bring mp5/spirit gear, lots of pots, and a shadowpriest (*grin*)
- The AOE silence is NOT avoidable, HoT's up!
- Tank for troll form won't take too much damage from mangles, but watch for the cleave spike.
Key Points:
- Bear and Troll tank MUST switch over QUICKLY
- Bear tank must stay 2nd on KTM when troll tank is tanking troll and vice versa
- Healers must conserve as much mana as possible
- NO-ONE goes above the 2 tanks on KTM
This looks like it'll be a fun fight, and a good start to ZA for us, we now have something else
to go for apart from karazhan, let's enjoy!
